Toad in the Hole

A classic dish made with British Bangers. Stodgy, filling and great for a winter lunctime.


Ingredients
1 lb pork sausages
½ pt milk
2 eggs
8 oz plain flour
Pinch of salt

Place the sausages in a deep, greased baking dish and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°C / 400°F / gas mark 6 for 30 minutes.

Beat the milk, eggs, flour and salt into a thick batter and pour over the sausages.

Bake for a further 15 mins at 230°C / 450°F / gas mark 8 until well-risen and golden brown.

Delicious with baked beans, tomato ketchup and an onion gravy.
